The benefits of choosing Huntington Ambulatory Services

Procedures are done in our AAAASF certified surgical suite by our board-certified medical providers. Our anesthesia and nursing staff thoroughly educate you through this process. All information is kept private and confidential under HIPPA law.

Upon arrival at the office, you will be asked to complete some medical forms. You will also have an ultrasound to determine how many weeks you are along in your pregnancy. A member of our staff will meet with you privately to discuss the procedure and answer any questions you may have. We will also perform basic lab tests to determine the Rh factor of your blood type (+/-).

Next you will meet the anesthesia provider in the procedure room. All of our procedures are done under general anesthesia using IV medications. We do not use any masks or inhalation anesthesia. All of our procedures are done under ultrasound guidance by the physician to reduce the possibility of surgical complications.

The actual procedure takes approximately 15 minutes. When the procedure has been completed, a post-op sonogram will be performed. You will then be transferred to our PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) where your vital signs will be monitored. To ensure your safety, a registered professional nurse certified in ACLS (Advanced Certified Life Support) will monitor your recuperation. You will remain in the PACU for approximately 30-45 mins. Before leaving, you will be seen by the physician as well as the nurse who will go over all written instructions with you.

Most women are able to return to restricted activities the following day. Avoid strenuous activity for a few days to prevent unnecessary pain or bleeding. Most women do experience some spotting or bleeding – this bleeding may last anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks. To prevent infection and aid in recovery, we advise you not to insert anything into the vagina (including tampons, douching and intercourse). It is important for you to return to our facility for your two-week follow-up and family planning appointment. We provide a 24-hour answering service handled by our staff in case of any emergencies.

We believe that all care should be reasonable and affordable. Please contact the office for more information. Phone: 631-923-1050
